Our Recent Projects

SUSTRANS SUNDAY CYCLE (July 2017)

We had a great day supporting the sustainable transport charity, Sustrans, at their annual ‘Sunday Cycle’ event. The event was held at The Downs in Bristol and saw two thousand keen cyclists of all ages and abilities taking advantage of a traffic-free route normally open to cars. Click here for photos.Edited 3

We worked flat out serving coffee and cake to hungry participants and received really great feedback from Ella Hogg, one of the main organisers and a support officer for Sustrans South. Click on this link to watch a short film about the event.

BONE SUPPORT B.O.F.A.S. THREE DAY EVENT (November 2016)

At the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (B.O.F.A.S.) annual scientific meeting, held at the Marriott Hotel Bristol, we integrated an espresso bar as part of the Bone Support trade stand. We served three different espressos over three consecutive days to guests of the meeting and were kept very busy. fb-6The surgeons, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals who attended the event loved that we were able to offer a different coffee each day rather than the usual conference coffee served from a flask! It was the first event for our newest member of the team, Russell, who took the challenge head on and coped brilliantly with the high volume of orders we received. fb-14We definitely seemed to pull a crowd during the event, which gave people the opportunity to talk with the Bone Support team and find out more about their synthetic bone substitute, Cerament.

Pia Fussing, Global Product Manager for Bone Support worked alongside us during the event. The feedback she received from guests at the event was very positive. The ‘high quality of the coffee served’ and the ‘professionalism shown by the Ape staff’ were some of the comments that were fed back to Pia.

BMW WELLSWAY THREE DAY EVENTS (February & May 2016)

A regular client of ours, Bath’s BMW dealership, Wellsway, invited us back to be part of some very successful three day sales events in 2016. 026We were hired to serve speciality coffee to BMW’s valued customers, complemented by some great cakes from The Duke of Cakes. These events are always really enjoyable and we get to work with a top team of staff and lovely customers at Wellsway. We hope the presence of Ape Coffee Events adds the finishing touch to these events. Evie Dibble, Wellsway’s Marketing Coordinator, said:

Ape Coffee Events really were fantastic. Amazing coffee and service with a smile! Nick was great and very engaging with our customers. We will certainly be using Ape Coffee Events for future BMW events.”

PAPER ARTS (April 2015 – October 2015)

Ape About Coffee opens at PAPER ArtsIn April 2015 we created a smart, stylish espresso bar with indoor and outdoor seating within the frontage of PAPER Arts exhibition space. Run by a group of young Bristol-based artists, Paper Arts is a social enterprise set up to support local artists and help to showcase their talent.

This venue made for a great cafe space – a place where friends and colleagues were able to relax and enjoy great coffee and food away from the bustle of Bristol’s Broadmead Shopping Area. Sadly, like so many other city centre shopping areas, Broadmead is swamped by high street chain coffee shops. Fortunately, our cafe space gave regular shoppers, as well as visitors to Bristol, an interesting and friendly place to enjoy speciality coffee, locally sourced food and great art.

La Spaziale photoIn the six months of trading at Paper Arts we gained an excellent reputation for our coffee and service. We created a steady group of regulars who really appreciated the quality of our products and the fact we were 100% independent. Being next door to a large outlet of Starbucks also became quite a talking point!

With the installation of a cafe within the frontage of the retail space, Simone Kidner, the MD of PAPER Arts, noticed a definite increase in footfall within PAPER Arts and also the adjoining shop COLAB. Upon leaving PAPER Arts in October 2015, we left Simone and her team a fully operational espresso bar to continue to offer a great community cafe to the people of Broadmead.

Please take a look at some of the reviews from Bristol Post and Bristol 24/7 that were published during our first month of opening at Paper Arts. Also, check out more pictures of the PAPER Arts project here.

SIMPLYHEALTH (October 2014 – April 2015)

Simply Health copyIn October 2014 we were approached by Simplyhealth Bristol to set up an in-house espresso bar to cater for 450 employees and visiting clients within their brand new Bristol-based office. We jumped at the chance of working alongside a very dynamic company with strong values and an excellent reputation. After a successful pop-up event for the MacMillan Cancer Support charity, in which we gave 100% of our profits to charity, we then installed a permanent espresso bar in the ground floor reception area of the five storey office complex.

IMG_5823Serving a full menu of hot and cold drinks, freshly baked goods and lunch options, we offered the staff of Simplyhealth a great alternative to high street coffee and supermarket sandwiches! Ian Thomas, the Facilities Manager for Simplyhealth, was very impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of our barista staff, the quality of our products and the benefits that having a smart, stylish espresso bar brought to the overall look of the building.

After six great months at Simplyhealth, we moved on to our next project, but left having succeeded in creating a popular speciality coffee bar within a corporate office space – something that is rarely seen within modern offices where multinational coffee chains usually dominate. Check out more pictures of our Simplyhealth project here.
